3 killed as boy, 14, crashes car at 180kph in Khor Fakkan

carKhor Fakkan: At least three Egyptians died and three others were injured in a horrific car accident early morning in Khor Fakkan in Sharjah on Thursday.

All the victims, aged 10 to 16 years, were travelling in the same car.

The accident happened on Khor Fakkan Corniche Road when the driver of a Toyota Camry lost control and crashed the car into the pavement before hitting a tree.

The car was speeding when the driver lost control at a curve. The vehicle turned over several times and crashed into the pavement, police said.

Police said the car split into two after hitting the pavement and tree and the bodies flew out of the vehicle.

A police officer told Gulf News the accident happened at around 6am and the 14-year-old driver, who was reportedly driving at 180km per hour, lost control on Corniche Road.

The driver survived the crash.

Vehicle split into two

Due to the force of the impact, the vehicle split into two parts. Three passengers aged 11 to 14, were killed on the spot while the driver and two other occupants of the car received serious injuries.

The youngsters have been taken to Khor Fakkan hospital where their condition is reported to be critical.

Police said initial investigations showed the accident happened due to speeding.

Police said the 14-year-old driver took the car from his father without his knowledge and all the youngsters were playing together all night and were on way to home houses when the accident took place.

The car’s registration and insurance had expired, the officer said.

Gulf News learnt mothers of two victims were travelling on Tuesday to Egypt and their deceased sons refused to join them.

Meanwhile, eyewitnesses told Gulf News that the bodies of the deceased remained on the spot for more than half an hour
